COVID-19 HEALTH PLAN

Covid-19 Health plan

We have redefined our health management, hygiene and cleaning procedures to make sure that we can safely welcome our students back into the studio at Bishopsgate School and at the Scout Hut, Wraysbury for in-person dance classes from August 2021.

We have updated our policies, risk assessment, terms & conditions and our registration form to reflect our new way of working as we move through Stage 4 of the Government's roadmap to recovery following the Covid-19 outbreak.

We are excited to welcome our students back to the studio and look forward to seeing you soon.

A summary of the key measures we have implemented can be found below:

TO ENSURE SUSYBALLET STAFF, STUDENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHER VISITORS REMAIN SAFE WHILST ATTENDING OR DROPPING OFF/COLLECTING FROM OR TAKING PART IN IN DANCE CLASSES OUTSIDE OF THE HOME DURING STEP 4 OF THE GOVERNMENT'S ROADMAP OUT OF THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK, OUR CONTROL MEASURES IN PLACE WILL:

1) Ensure good hygiene for everyone

2) Enable people to work in well ventilated areas as much as possible

3) Maintain appropriate levels of cleaning for the setting, using standard cleaning products.

4) Follow public heakth advice on testing, self-isolating and managing confirmed cases of Covid-19.

BASIC HYGIENE PROCEDURES FOR THOSE ENTERING THE HALL

SCREENING QUESTIONS:

from 16th August 2021, if you are fully vaccinated or under 18, you willl not have to self-isolate following close contact with someone who has Covid-19. In this instance however, you will still need to get a PCR test & subsequently self-isolate if you have a positive result.

We are no longer required by law to keep contact details for the NHS Test & Trace Programme, however, it remains helpful to have as much information as possible, should a member of staff/student/parent or any other visitor test positive. For this reason, we will continue to request name, contact details & confirmation that no one attending the premises has tested positive for Covid-19, or should currently be self-isolating for any reason in situations where adults attend the setting (for Nursery classes /adult ballet/parents watching classes etc). We will continue to retain such information for a limited time (21 Days).

For children attending our classes, we will remind Parents of the above information regularly and request that you continue to not bring children to class if they are unwell & to follow the above guidance in relation to self-isolating and obtaining Covid-19 PCR tests.

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS:

We will no longer be taking temperature checks on entry, however, please do not attend if you or your child has a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or above . A high temperature remains a symptom of Covid-19 along with a new continuous cough and a loss of or change to normal sense of taste or smell.

COME READY DRESSED FOR CLASS:

Please arrive ready for class in your ballet clothing. There are no changing facilities at our venues. Please only allow children to wear items of clothing that they can manage to put on/take off by themselves. We regret that lost property cannot be stored after class at this time and will be disposed of, so please only bring what is absolutely necessary and make sure everything is named.

HAND SANITISER/HAND WASHING:

Hand sanitiser will be available on entry and exit and everyone must apply this thoroughly to their hands in view of the teacher before entry. There will be plenty of soap and hand towels available in the toilets for hand washing also.

TOILET FACILITIES:

Please ensure your children have been to the toilet before arriving at class. However, in case it becomes necessary, please ensure your children are able to use the toilet independently and stress the importance of handwashing to them. There will be a policy of only one child allowed in the toilet at a time in order to maintain some social distancing as far as is possible.

HYGIENE AND SAFETY MEASURES DURING CLASS AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS RELATING TO COVID-19

To keep everyone safe the following procedures will be in place:

  1. All high touch surfaces will be cleaned between classes

  2. Students and teachers no longer need to keep 2 metres apart but we will continue to keep an adequate amount of space between students & staff . For aerobic activity this distance will be increased

  3. The Teacher will aim to keep plenty of distance from students and where this is not possible (such as when carrying out screening questions on entry or in the case of first aid emergencies or), then protective equipment or a mask will be worn.  There will be no physical contact other than that which may be deemed necessary in the cases of first aid or for safe teaching practice.

  4. If first aid is required, PPE will be worn if appropriate and minimal time and contact ensured. Appropriate cleaning procedures will be adopted before & after attending to first aid.

  5. Doors and windows will be kept open as much as is safely possible to increase fresh air flow.

  6. If there are busy classes with a large number of students, then we will allow the first group to depart safely before allowing the next class to enter. At the Scout Hut, the rear exit will continue to be used for large groups of people leaving the premises.

  7. Students should arrive at the time of their class and not early. There will be nowhere to wait inside the hall. Please keep a distance from others whilst queuing to enter class.

  8. We will continue to keep an amount of time free between classes for the purpose of cleaning the space before the next group arrive. Please bear with us whilst we prepare the room for the next class.

  9. If someone becomes ill with suspected Covid-19 during class, they will be seated apart from the others until they can be taken home. They will be instructed to self-isolate for 10 days and arrange a test.  Please note that if a case of Covid-19 is confirmed, you may be contacted by the NHS Tack & Trace team. Current guidelines say that you must self-isolate for 10 days from when symptoms started  or from a positive test result (or in the case of a confirmed contact, from the last date that you had contact ) . Any other members of the same household must also self-isolate for 10 days from the day the first person in house developed symptoms or tested positive. If you are a confirmed contact from a positive case, you must self isolate for 10 days however, the other members in your household do not need to self isolate provided you are not experiencing any symptoms & have not tested positive.  If a negative test is confirmed after suspected symptoms, then everyone can return to class as long as they are well enough. For further details please refer to the Government website. From 16th August 2021, if you are fully vaccinated or under 18, you willl not have to self-isolate following close contact with someone who has Covid-19. In this instance however, you will still need to get a PCR test & subsequently self-isolate if you have a positive result.

  10.  Any coughs and sneezes (not Covid-19 related) should be covered by a tissue or flexed elbow. Tissues should be disposed of in closed bins and hands sanitised afterwards. There will be tissues, hand sanitiser and bins available during class.Regular hand washing is still highly recommended more frequently as the best way to control and prevent infection. There will be plenty of soap and hand towels available and hand sanitiser which must be used before class and after.

  11. We regret that during this time there will be no lost property kept after class. Any items left will be immediately disposed of. Students will need to be responsible for any possessions brought into class so in the case of young children it is probably best not to bring anything into class. There will be no cups available for drinking water during class so students will need to bring a named water bottle with them if they think they will need one. Once again, for young children this is probably unnecessary.

  12. Masks are no longer compulsory however, where adequate distance from others cannot be maintained, masks can be worn. Masks do not need to be worn when exercising. There are certain people who do not need to wear a mask for health reasons. Parents/guardians accompanying the nursery children to class can still wear a mask if they choose to. Please refer to the Government guidelines for further details.

  13. All registration forms are available to complete online and we regret that during this time, all class payment must be made through bank transfer and not physical cash or cheque.

  14. Any classes which Susyballet may need to cancel due to self-isolating measures, will not be refunded, but we will endeavour to either find a cover teacher, provide the class online (zoom) or re schedule the class for a later date. Equally, refunds cannot be given to any classes missed by a student due to self-isolation, illness or any other reason outside of our control.

  15. Class timetables and class groups have been carefully planned to try and keep children of the same school year group together as much as possible. Once you have signed up to a class, you will only be able to attend that class and will not be able to swap or change classes.

  16. Parents and guardians will once again be allowed to enter the hall for some class  & demonstration watching opportunities but only in agreement with the teacher. Any adult attending classes will need to keep adequate distance from others & follow our policy of providing name & contact details & confirmation that they do not have Covid-19 & are not subject to any self-isolating requirements for whatever reason. Susyballet will endeavour to meet the recommended guidelines for supervision of children by employing suitable adult assistance where necessary. We will continue to allow an adult to enter the hall and remain with their children for our nursery class age children, who require parental supervision (1 parent). Parents attending these classes no longer have to wear a mask, but they are encouraged to continue to do so. We are happy for more than one adult to attend by arrangement with the teacher (to make sure we have enough space). These classes will continue to have reduced numbers to allow for safe attendance for all.

  17. All classes will be controlled in size to allow children to dance in a safe manner with adequate space, taking into consideration the size, shape and ventilation of the hall.
