CHILDRENS CLASSES

Susyballet offers ballet classes for children aged from two and a half upwards and Modern Theatre Dance and Tap from age four upwards.

Nursery ballet classes aim to introduce children to the enjoyment and technique of ballet through songs, games and stories. For children age four and upwards we follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus with a view to entering children for examinations and class awards. Examinations can be a wonderful performing experience for children which they enjoy immensely. Furthermore, it provides a feeling of pride and achievement and helps to prepare children for the next level in ballet.

We are also delighted to offer an introduction to ISTD Modern Theatre Dance and Tap for young children. As with Ballet, Modern Dance & Tap improves physical & mental health. All genres of dance are great for physical fitness as dancing condition's & uses all the muscles. Dancing increases strength, develops co-ordination, balance & musicality. Dance is inclusive and gives children an opportunity to express themselves. It boosts cognitive performance, is sociable and boosts self-esteem.  Tap dancing, teaches children to hear different layers of music & to understand different & complex rhythms. The feet become percussian instruments in their own right. It is great cardiovasular exercise & tones and strengthens the legs, ankles and feet. Modern dance, whilst providing all the health benefits above, is a more relaxed form of dance than ballet and provides students with a good base knowledge for further dance genres and is useful for building technique.
